Description

In 2010, at the age of 36, Kate Davies suffered a serious stroke. This book is about how Kate sees life differently as a result of her brain injury. In her own words, 'Handywoman is about what it means to knit a sweater. About the idea of walking when ones finds oneself in a body no longer walks.'

We have loved Kate Davies' designs since we first stumbled upon the 'Owls' sweater and every book Kate publishes is eagerly anticipated and has us playing with colour and texture and reaching for our favourite woolly yarns but this one is different. As soon as we saw Kate tweet the name 'Handywoman' we knew this one was special. This is NOT a collection of knitting patterns, in fact this book doesn't contain ANY patterns but it is a beautifully written insight into the role craft play in our lives, the importance of making, the things we take for granted, and the ways life is changed by brain injury.
